THOMPSON TWINS – Side Kicks (1983)

British new wave band Thompson Twins emerged in the late 1970s before evolving into one of the defining synth-pop acts of the 1980s, particularly through the distinctive partnership of Tom Bailey, Alannah Currie and Joe Leeway. Released in 1983, Side Kicks, originally titled Quick Step & Side Kick in the United Kingdom, is their third studio album and the first recorded with their established three-piece line-up. Produced by Alex Sadkin, the album marked a significant transformation from the band's earlier experimental post-punk approach towards a more accessible combination of synthesiser-driven pop, funk, dance rhythms and new wave. Featuring memorable tracks such as "Love on Your Side", "Lies", "We Are Detective", "Watching" and the atmospheric "If You Were Here", the album balances infectious melodies with inventive electronic arrangements, prominent percussion and Bailey's distinctive vocals. Reaching No. 2 on the UK Albums Chart, Side Kicks established the Thompson Twins as a major force in British pop and laid the groundwork for their international breakthrough with Into the Gap in 1984. An essential recording from the period when British new wave was evolving into the polished, rhythm-oriented synth-pop that would dominate much of the decade.

Visual inspection shows the cassette and tape to be in generally acceptable condition and it appears playable, but due to the age and nature of used cassettes, playback quality cannot be guaranteed.
