SCORN – Vae Solis (1992)

Formed in Birmingham, England, Scorn emerged in the early 1990s as an experimental industrial metal project created by former Napalm Death members Mick Harris and Nicholas Bullen, both of whom had contributed to the pioneering grindcore album Scum (1987). Released in 1992 through Earache Records, Vae Solis was their debut full-length album, marking a radical departure from the frantic speed of grindcore towards a darker, slower and more atmospheric musical direction. Featuring guitar contributions from Justin Broadrick of Godflesh, the album combines crushing, heavily distorted riffs, deep bass frequencies, mechanical rhythms, abrasive vocals and unsettling electronic textures. Tracks such as "Spasm", "Suck and Eat You", "Hit", "Walls of My Heart", "Lick Forever Dog" and "Deep In – Eaten Over and Over" demonstrate the band's exploration of industrial metal, sludge, dark ambient and experimental noise, alternating between punishing heaviness and oppressive, minimalist passages. While sharing certain characteristics with Godflesh and early Swans, Vae Solis established Scorn's own musical identity and laid the groundwork for their subsequent exploration of dub, electronic music and bass-driven experimental sound. A significant recording from the early 1990s industrial underground, capturing two grindcore pioneers moving into entirely different musical territory.

This is a pre-owned cassette. Unless stated otherwise, the tape has **not been fully play-tested or professionally cleaned**. Visual inspection shows the cassette and tape to be in generally acceptable condition and it appears playable, but due to the age and nature of used cassettes, playback quality cannot be guaranteed.

If the exposed tape strip appears dusty or dirty, it may require manual cleaning before playback. Experienced cassette collectors will generally be familiar with the appropriate cleaning methods and handling precautions for older tapes.
