GENDO IKARI – Unit 2 (2018)

Hailing from Glasgow, Scotland, Gendo Ikari are a grindcore band whose uncompromising sound combines the relentless aggression of extreme metal with the raw intensity of hardcore punk and powerviolence. Taking their name from a character in the Japanese anime series Neon Genesis Evangelion, the band developed a particularly abrasive style characterised by frantic blast beats, heavily distorted guitar riffs, harsh vocals and unpredictable shifts between rapid-fire aggression and slower, crushing passages. Released on 25 August 2018, Unit 2 is their second EP, following Unit 1 (2016), and features five tracks: "Swings & Roundabouts", "Trial & Error", "JD Story", "Mother's Acid" and "Bleak". Recorded live at The Audio Lounge in Glasgow during August 2018, the EP captures the band's direct and uncompromising approach to extreme music, combining short, explosive compositions with longer arrangements that allow greater exploration of rhythmic variation and atmosphere. Running approximately 14 minutes, Unit 2 demonstrates Gendo Ikari's ability to balance grindcore's characteristic speed and brutality with heavier, more deliberate passages, reflecting the diversity of Scotland's contemporary underground extreme music scene.

This is a pre-owned cassette. Unless stated otherwise, the tape has **not been fully play-tested or professionally cleaned**. Visual inspection shows the cassette and tape to be in generally acceptable condition and it appears playable, but due to the age and nature of used cassettes, playback quality cannot be guaranteed.

If the exposed tape strip appears dusty or dirty, it may require manual cleaning before playback. Experienced cassette collectors will generally be familiar with the appropriate cleaning methods and handling precautions for older tapes.
