(Pre-order) MANOWAR Hail To England Imperial Edition MMXIX (Remixed/Remastered) CD
Release date 31 May 2019
MANOWAR made it clear from the beginning that they were a unique offer in the world of heavy music. With Black Sabbath laying the foundation and Judas Priest building on it, it was MANOWAR who finally upgraded the genre and proudly set the ethos and sonic values of Heavy Fuck Metal as it should be: big, brave, bombastic and loud enough to explode your skull.
Undoubtedly, MANOWAR confirmed their 1982 debut - Battle Hymns - that they were in a class of their own, and gave the metal scene, with the all-pervasive -Into Glory Ride of 1983, another jolting dose of heavy metal perfection. Known for its raw production and harsh aggression, the album was widely hailed as a masterpiece. Significantly, the band's dissatisfaction with the somewhat hectic and compromised production of their second album made sure that the creation of their next album was handled with even greater care than before. We are talking about MANOWAR and of course the result was never in question.
-Hail To England- was published in February 1984, just over six months after its predecessor, and under tremendous expectation, not least because at that time MANOWAR was known worldwide as a self-proclaimed guardian of a whole genre. Luckily, the new album was more than ready to blow people's heads off again.
Starting with the imposing power of -Blood Of My Enemies-, -Hail To England- is perhaps the best record that MANOWAR created in its first decade. With a rounder and more muscular production than -Into Glory Ride- and blessed with some of the best songs the band has ever recorded, this young band demonstrated a distinctive sense of individuality that virtually overwhelmed the competition. Strengthened by a heightened sense of dynamics and cinematographic melodrama, the crushing Bridge Of Death revealed new subtleties and textures within the MANOWAR arsenal. Meanwhile, the breathtaking attack -Kill With Power and the powerful and exciting Track -Hail To England song itself confirmed that MANOWAR's songwriting was getting sharper and more effective every year. Rounded off by Joey DeMaio's striking bass solo, the truly mesmerizing Black Arrows- and album number three could hardly have offered a more complete or convincing taste of MANOWAR in 1984.
35 years later, -Hail To England- was revived and revitalized by Joey DeMaio himself in the producer role. It may be hard to imagine that such a virtuoso and monumental album could ever be improved, but if MANOWAR are defined by their unwavering path to glory, then their tireless dedication to deliver quality on a level that makes others' efforts look miserable , Listen to the improved -Hail To England edition at maximum volume and experience the sound of a flawless heavy metal monolith that explodes with renewed strength and power. This is Heavy Fucking Metal in its purest form and no one does it better. Hail MANOWAR!
